Volunteering

As an organization created by former volunteers, we are always excited to fund projects created by people already volunteering in group homes in Peru and to consider new ideas from potential volunteers. In the past, volunteers have taught juggling, photography, and art classes. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering. It is important to note though, that if you are a potential volunteer it is essential to have at least a basic grasp of Spanish in order to be able to communicate with our coordinator in Lima.

Mike Dowrick - spent 3 weeks teaching juggling and circus skills in 3 group homes in 2005:

“I really think they appreciated what I’d been teaching them, and when I gave them all of the equipment they were just so chuffed, it was amazing to see. The most amazing thing though was just how similar it has been to teaching in England. They are all just kids who wanted to be told that they can do things right, to play and to show you that they’re really good at something.

I’ve also seen that making a difference is so possible. Its not just about giving money or clothes or food or a place to stay. It’s about it all as one. The sum of the collective is infinitely more important than its parts, because it shows the kids that people do care about them and gives them the belief that they can make it in this life. It’s very inspirational.”
