Sarah Howard moved to Peru in 2001 to work in an orphanage for homeless children. She entered the home as a volunteer and quickly became an older sister to the children. A year later, her dedication to these children found its shape in the form of Puentes: Closing the Gap. The energy and enthusiasm that Sarah demonstrated in everything she did have enabled Puentes to reach out to more children in more group homes across Lima during the past six years. She has truly made a difference in these children's lives.

Sarah died in a tragic bus accident in Ecuador on April 12, 2008 while leading a volunteer group into a remote region of Ecuador to renovate a day care centre. She will be sorely missed. In memory of Sarah and her adventurous spirit, we have created the Sarah Howard Outward Bound Adventure Fund. This fund will enable the homeless children whom she cared so deeply for to enjoy the wilderness adventures that she loved so much. Donations to the Sarah Howard Outward Bound Adventure Fund may be directed to us via the button on the left, which will take you to justgiving, where you can either donate or set up a fundraising page should you wish to raise funds in Sarah's memory. Thank you. |
