Peru
A geographically diverse country, Peru possesses coastal deserts, Andean Mountains, and the Amazon jungle. Peru’s population is 27 million people, 8 million of whom live in Lima, the capital city. Different cultures have converged in Lima as people from other regions have migrated to Lima as a result of poverty and terrorism. Peru’s beauty is marred by its poverty. Over half the population lives in poverty, oftentimes lacking access to even basic sanitation. The phenomenon of street children is directly related to poverty.
